Projects
Gnani.ai is a B2B service providing company working on new-age technologies like ASR, NLP, and AI to build Conversational AI machinery for enterprises globally.
The following project was my first and exclusive project. The aim of the project was to redesign the new demos website with better experience for the Gnani's clientele base to book a demo session for the desired products.
Stakeholders - Gnani's clients, Admin.
Objective
To reduce the functional complexity of the existing design and make it more user friendly for both the stakeholders
Projects
As this project is about redesigning the website I started with a heuristic evaluation in order to come up with insights and changes to be done in the existing design.
Ideate
The results of the heuristic evaluation prominently focused on the functional complexity of the flow which helped me decide my next step and re-iterate the information architecture of the existing flow of the website.
Iterate
My next step was to create the low fidelity prototype in order to show how the layout of the screens.
Further, I took the feedback from the mentor and then created high fidelity according to the provided feedback. the feedback is as follows:-
Client Flow- To leave some space to add product promotion illustrations.
Test
With the existing screens, I conducted user-testing with 3 users giving them 2 tasks each.
Task 1 -Book a demo for XYZ bot
Task -2 -Create a new demo for a client and then edit a bot name under the English language for the same client.
Observations of the tests are as follows
Admin Flow
1. The add new demo button should be seen constantly at all the times on the dashboard.
2. The adding of language and new demo bots in the 'Add new demo' and 'Edit the existing demo' got a little confusing.
3. As the user added more demo bots and language they had to scroll more which was time consuming and confusing
Developing Stage
After inculcating the changes according to the insights obtained through the testing, the designs were then sent to the developer. Looking at the designs, the developer asked me to enforce changes as follows:-
User Flow
1. The numbering of the pages in the information filling process had to be removed.
User Flow
1. The horizontal scroll displaying the languages had to be removed.
2. The add new demo and edit the demo should have the same layout.
The changes suggested did not make sense to me hence as they were the best solutions to reduce down the complexity of the flow. I explained my designs to him and also tried to understand his perspective and came to common grounds to just go with change no.2 from the admin flow.
Challenges Faced
1. It was my first B2B project at every step, so the research and execution process required a lot of analysis.
2. The officials in the company were from a tech background and were not acquainted with the importance of the UX, which made the testing process a little difficult.
3. Lack of time to execute the product single-handedly.
4. I understood how to align the work of a designer with that of a developer. It would surely help me coordinate better with future projects.
Retrospective
1. From this project on, I will try to get an opinion of the earlier users to record more pain points and better gauge behavioral patterns.
2. I learned that turnaround time is important and quality does not hold much water without deadlines being met.
3. As a designer, I understand that I need to work and coordinate better with developers for a product that comes with design and tech finesse.
